Our Staff

BarryBarry Scheier (barry@gatesmanor.com) LNHA, is our Administrator. He has been an owner and the Administrator of Gates Manor since 1996, being in healthcare since 1974 as a Licensed Administrator. Barry believes “you have to support and be there for staff, residents and families. People want to know who the ownership is and be able to communicate with them easily.”


AlexAlex Riddick (alex@gatesmanor.com) is our Director of Activities and Volunteer Services. He began his career as an activities professional over 20 years ago, having graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Montclair State University. He completed his certification to become a Director of Activities and has continued to attend workshops and seminars to maintain his certification. His education and experience have been excellent resources in the development of effective activities programming for both short term and long term residents. Alex has a special interest in activity programs which enhance the quality of life for residents who are challenged by dementia and other cognitive disabilities. He is a valuable asset to the health, happiness and well-being of our residents.


LisaLisa Alfano (lisa@gatesmanor.com) CSW, is our Admissions/Social Services Director, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health/Human Services from the University of Scranton. She is a New Jersey Certified Social Worker since 1994, with over 20 years of long term care experience, and extensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations as they pertain to long term care. She is a valuable asset to our residents well-being.


DesireeDesiree Davidson-Trotz (desiree@gatesmanor.com) CFSSM-FSP, has been our Food Service Coordinator and Director for over 10 years, enjoying all aspects of food service, good nutrition, and working with our Dietician to create the Resident Menus. She has extensive experience in the food service industry for the last 30 years. Her Certifications include Practical and Theoretical Instruction in Food and Nutrition Catering, Home Care Management from the Food and Hotel Management School (New York), Food Service Management Sanitation from the Passaic County College, Food Safety Manager from the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. She is a member and past Chairperson of the New Jersey Dietary Managers Association. She is a valuable asset to our residents health and well–being.


NorieNorie Baluyut, RN, BSN (nora@gatesmanor.com) is our Director of Nursing, she has been a registered nurse for 23 years, and she came to Gates Manor with a vast nursing experience. Norie has been in long term care setting and has served different positions from staff RN, MDS Coordinator, Clinical Reimbursement Coordinator, Hospice Nurse Case Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing. Earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the top of her class. She joined Gates Manor as a full time supervisor and became the Director of Nursing. Her integrity, compassion and commitment to nursing allows her to be an effective director. She brings her experience and diligence to her everyday task as an effective leader. Her staff looks up to her as an abundant source of knowledge and her residents look up to her as a compassionate practical and proactive registered nurse.


JoyceJoyce Matera has been our Dietician for nearly 15 years, being a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She began her professional career as a Clinical Dietitian at Hackensack Hospital (f/k/a Hackensack University Medical Center), where she gained invaluable experience in patient care, before becoming a consultant for long-term care facilities in 1987.


RuthRuth Jordan (ruth@gatesmanor.com) is our Office Manager, with over 25 years experience in the health care field. Ruth specializes in Medicare and Medicaid, and has a genuine empathy for the residents and their families.


MonicaMonica Bombino (monica@gatesmanor.com) is an Administrative Assistant at Gates Manor. She provides office, bookkeeping, clerical and human resources support, having had 18 years experience working with the Archdiocese of Newark’s Elementary School Department in a similar capacity. In addition, Monica provides general administrative support to the Nursing Services and Social/Admissions Departments. Monica is also fluent in Spanish.
